JOIN US AS WE PRESENT THE WILIAM F. BUTLER AWARD

We are honored and proud to present the 2025 Butler Award to The Honorable Janet L. Yellen, Secretary of the Treasury of the United States in recognition of her significant contributions to the economic profession through her research and policy making.

Secretary Yellen has a distinguished career both in academia and public service dedicated to improving our understanding of the labor market and unemployment as well as monetary and fiscal policies, and international trade. She has been serving as the 78th United States Secretary of the Treasury since January 26, 2021, and she is currently the Eugene E. and Catherine M. Trefethen Professor Emeritus at the University of California, Berkeley. 

Previously, she served as the 15th Chair of the Federal Reserve Bank from 2014 to 2018, and as the Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers from 1997 to 1999. Secretary Yellen is the first person in American history to have led the White House Council of Economic Advisors, the Federal Reserve, and the Treasury Department.

Established in 1972, The William F. Butler Award is presented annually to honor leadership in the field of business economics, and, to date, it has been presented to 45 outstanding economists.
